Technical Specification

The Sandfield Theatre is a highly versatile black box space. A ground plan of the theatre in DXF format can be downloaded here.

We have a 2 colour wash generic rig in operation at all times, with the exception during a show run that requires a rig that cannot be achieved without altering the existing setup. This allows us to accomodate most small events using the space with little or no rigging requried. A PDF of this standard rig can be downloaded here, and the standard layout of maskers and cyc here

As standard the theatre can seat 228 in tiered seating. This can be expanded to 236 with the removal of the sound position (please note this is a long process that will incur an additional charge) or even more by adding additional rows of seats in front of the tiered seating block.

The floor is sprung (ideal for dance shows) with black vinyl dance floor on top. It is not possible to screw scenery into the floor, however we can provide weights to help support sets. The stage has full length perimeter curtains and sets of black cross curtains at various points across the stage.

Approximate stage dimensions: Wall to wall - 13m wide x 14m deep. With perimeter tabs in - 12m wide x 13m deep. In standard configuration with cyc in place and wing maskers in - 10m wide x 8m deep usable stage space.

The equipment listed here is that which is usually based specifically at the Sandfield Theatre. This can be supplimented by our resources at the College Street centre or hired in specifically. Please confirm your requirements in plenty of time before your production.

Scenery:

Our scenery staff can build your sets specifically for your production be it at Sandfield or not. Some examples of recent work can be found here.

NOTE: If you are planning on bringing a set with your production please be aware that it will need to fit through a standard height double door.

We have hard and soft masking flats and tabs which can reduce the size of the acting area or fit a smaller set into the larger space.
